HOW DOES A TOBACCO HEATER WORK?
According to scientific estimates, there are nearly one billion cigarette users worldwide. It is thus a huge market, where more modern alternatives are growing with popularity such as e-cigarettes and tobacco heating products. Despite the fact that tobacco heating products (THP) have been with us for some time, many of us have not yet had the time to get used to the new alternatives in the tobacco industry. It is therefore time to explore and take a closer look at how glo™, one of the available tobacco heating products available in the market, works.
WHAT ARE HEATED TOBACCO PRODUCTS (HTPs)?
Heated tobacco products (HTP), also known as Tobacco Heating Products (THP) or tobacco heaters, are a alternative to traditional cigarettes. There are also other alternatives to cigarettes, such as e-cigarettes that may have similar visual features as THPs, but they operate differently. In e-cigarettes, nicotine is formed by evaporating liquids. While in tobacco heaters, sticks with real tobacco are used and the tobacco is heated at a certain temperature in order to extract nicotine from it without the combustion process that usually occurs with traditional cigarettes. The temperature that is being used to heat the sticks is up to 270 degrees Celsius—significantly lower than cigarettes as the burning standard can cause the temperature to reach up to 900 degrees Celsius. It is important to remember that nicotine itself is a highly addictive substance.
HOW DOES glo™ WORK?
Now that we know what tobacco heaters do and their purpose in the tobacco industry, here is a closer look at how they work.
Tobacco heating devices contain a so-called heating chamber, which is where tobacco sticks (i.e. neo™ sticks) are placed inside the device. This is where the stick gets heated so that the tobacco releases nicotine, also referred to as tobacco aerosol. Along with the heating chamber, there is a blade, i.e. a metal rod, within the device that is responsible for increasing the temperature through an electric current. The glo™ device is built around an induction heating system that ensures the stick is heated evenly through its surrounding chamber.
During inhalation, the air sucked inside the device creates a mechanism of heating causing the temperature to rise enough to burn the tobacco inside the stick. As a result, nicotine is evaporated from it.
THE TOBACCO THAT IS USED IN TOBACCO HEATING DEVICES
Under no circumstance should you try to burn the sticks with fire or try to place traditional cigarettes inside the heating chamber of tobacco heating devices, as this could endanger your health. The tobacco used in the sticks for heating devices is specially selected and compacted to make it more suitable for evaporation, which is why using it in other ways is pointless. Additionally, we end up damaging the device and voiding the warranty by using products not intended for our tobacco heater.
